Looking For More Farmers Markets In The US
As mentioned in the last story, there are a number of interesting markets in New York, and the Chelsea Markets are really worth a visit. The markets here are made up of a combo of dining outlets for all kinds of cuisines along with market type stalls selling to those who take fresh produce home. Seriously busy at lunch time for obvious reasons
For those who like the Italian cuisine definitely try Rana Pastificio & Cucina. Superd Italian cuisine by the man who supplies Eataly with a lot of product. He also has ristarante in Verona & Chicago.
We managed to get back there 3 times during our stay in New York. Its open 7 days a week, opens at 10am, with some of the restaurants opening after 11, so check first.Cheslea Markets has one of the best and most popular Bagel shops in the city. And Googles HQ is just across the road.
Location; 75 9th Av on the west side, at the end of the HighLine, and you will need a walk after time at the markets.
We aslo visited Essex Street Market, Supposedly NY's most historic.and opened back in 1940. It will be relocating in 2018 across the road . It is quite small, so allow 30 minutes to look around. Its at 120 Essex St
It includes about 40 stores with a couple of good bakeries, fresh vegetables, a great cheese shop.
