Highlights

Meet at : Rome Fiumicino Airport

1st day: drive to Spoleto, the birthplace of some of the best olive oils in the world. We  stay in a fantastic agriturismo close to the city, an old farmhouse with breathtaking views, surrounded by the warm atmosphere of the Italian countryside. After  lunch, where we taste the most typical Umbrian dishes, visit the ancient oil mill, its fabulous olive groves and assist in  the production of the extra-virgin olive oil. We  participate in an olive-oil tasting with different local olive oils to appreciate the nuances and the variety. Dinner tonight at the agriturismo, which will include the most traditional homemade dishes from the region.

2nd day: Today is all about the truffle. You will have the chance of digging a truffle out of the soil, we  are going to taste the result of our hunting (hope to be lucky enough, but beautiful dogs will help us!), some crostini with truffles and homemade olive oil. Then,  back to the agriturismo, with some free time to rest. We meet again for a special dinner in a real “Temple of Flavours”, get ready!

3rd day: Early departure today for Norcia, the town known for hosting the best “Mastri Norcini” (the “Mastri Norcini” are the best butchers for pork meat in Italy, they still use the ancient method of production in order to made the famous “porchetta”).  tour around the town and stop in an old Norcineria, famous for its “panino con la porchetta”, where we’ll have lunch and where we’ll meet a Mastro Norcino, who will tell us some of the secrets of the porchetta making process.

In the afternoon we travel to Gubbio, a gorgeous medieval little town where it seems the time has stood still. We stay in a magnificent Medieval mansion.  In the afternoon free time to wander the little town of Gubbio . We  meet again for a special dinner in a typical trattoria,& the chance to taste the delicious cured meat made in Umbria, the homemade pasta and the famous Chianina beef meat.

 

4th day: after breakfast (“colazione all’Italiana”),travel to Le Marche (one of the smallest Italian regions). Our destination “The Territories of Enchantment”, staying at an agriturismo, with its organic farm and orchard. here we relax and taste for two days. ! Starting with lunch where we taste the delicious products of the farm and orchard, such as their incredible cured meats and sheep cheeses. After lunch and a siesta we head to a little cheese farm, where discover all the secrets in the process of making the local pecorino cheese that still follow traditional methods. Dinner tonight takes place in a typical Trattoria downtown in the little village with more special treats and another locovore experience

5th day: We travel to a tiny village close to Ancona, where we’ll visit an ancient vineyard and its organic winery, known all over the Peninsula for its delicious Verdicchio wine, its grappa and its precious olive oil. Then lunch in a typical restaurant in the tiny Medieval village and in the afternoon  back to our accommodation, an ancient noble mansion in the heart of the tiny village. In the afternoon free time to visit the village, also the dinner will be free.

6th day: after breakfast leave for the coast of Le Marche. Stop in a beautiful fishermans village & visit a tiny Italian fish market. You will be stunned by the variety of fish that the market offers, we’ll also have the chance to chat with some fishermen and ask them about their lives and the ancient techniques they still use when fishing. Lunch in one of the typical fish restaurants, where we taste the freshest fish of the Adriatic Sea, lunch will be accompanied with Falerio wine, a warm treat for the soul. After lunch we travel to Rome, our tour will finish in Tivoli, a city that has a much longer history than Rome and dates back to 1215 BC, when it was considered one of the most important points of convergence of different peoples in the Italian Peninsula. We stay in a beautiful agriturisimo  where we taste the traditional aperitif  (aperitivo all’Italiana) and a special goodbye dinner accompanied by the best Colli Romani (Roman Hills) wines.

7th day: after breakfast we will leave to Rome Fiumicino Airport, where we will say “arrivederci”. Arriving about 11 am.
