When in Rome do as the Romans do.

You have been to Rome, as a tourist right ? but as a foodie ? I doubt it.

This was my 6th time in Rome, 4 nights including arrival after 20 hours on Etihad, great airline by the way.

Being a foodie at heart and not wanting to do the touristy things, again, I am meeting up with Dominique from Foodies in Rome to explore places where the locals hang out. Dom is a Canadian foodie and married to an Italian living the life in Rome. A wonderful host  to get lost with in the alleys of Trastavere where we meet the artisans of locavore unknown to tourists.

If you are over the tourist stuff bring your appetite and discover the foodie side of Rome. Right down to having a chef come to your apartment and get you involved in a cooking class , wines included, of course. So book something like At Home in Rome who have some wonderful apartments fully fitted with kitchens and the works.

To beat the traffic and throw a bit of culture and history in to the mix try Scooteroma. Don’t worry , you are on the back of the Vespa, like a limo on 2 wheels, and you have a minimum of 3 hours exploring a bunch of stuff from historical trails to street art. Traffic jams are part of life in Rome  so doing it by Vespa is a safe and fun way to go.
