This is one of many festivals held annually in Sicily, and although we will miss it on our tour this year its worth noting if you intend travelling there in the future

From 26 July to 30 August 2026, the Segesta Archaeological Park will host the fifth edition of the Segesta Theatre Festival, a multidisciplinary event that blends theatre, music, dance and the performing arts against the extraordinary backdrop of the Ancient Theatre and the Temple of Aphrodite Urania. Set amidst the light and silence of the Sicilian hills, the festival remains one of the most evocative cultural events of the Mediterranean summer, successfully combining artistic exploration with a dialogue with the archaeological landscape.
The 2026 edition, dedicated to the theme of transformation, offers a rich programme of shows, concerts, national premieres, dance performances, dawn events, stargazing sessions and workshops, creating a journey where tradition and modernity meet. Among the events on the programme are Giampiero Pizzol’s ‘L’Arca di Noè’, the concert ‘Emozioni’ dedicated to Lucio Battisti and Mogol, the evocative rituals of the Taiwanese company U-Theatre, and Euripides’ ‘Oreste’ reinterpreted by young artists under 35.
Amidst the ancient ruins of Segesta, the festival invites the public to enjoy an immersive experience where art, nature and memory become tools for reflection and connection, reaffirming the value of culture as a shared space of beauty, listening and harmony.

In an age that seems to have lost humanity's compass, choosing to sit among these age-old stones is not only a cultural act, but a declaration of love for life. We have imagined this program, as we do every year, as a multidisciplinary embrace: a place where theater, music, and dance don't simply exist, but endure, offering shelter to thought and nourishment to the spirit. Through the epic narratives of theater, the spiritual vibration of music, the vital power of dance, and the profound awareness of the workshops, the Festival invites audiences to rediscover what makes us profoundly human: the ability to create, to listen, and to welcome others. Each performance is a brick laid to build a bridge of peace, an opportunity to reflect on our common roots and our collective future. Under the Sicilian sky, between the Temple and the Ancient Theater, the Festival not only celebrates artistic excellence, but reaffirms the need for the sacred and beauty as the only possible responses to barbarism. My invitation is to abandon yourself completely to the experience: let the wind between the columns of the Temple and the breath of the Ancient Theatre become part of your listening. We invite you to experience this not only as spectators, but as witnesses to a collective ritual that, now more than ever, chooses life, harmony, and poetry as weapons of mass construction. In Segesta, theater is not just a performance: it is the way we, together, choose to look at the world and imagine, finally, the end of all war. The fifth edition of the Segesta Teatro Festival is a multidisciplinary mosaic where theater, music, and dance are not simply forms of entertainment, but acts of cultural resistance. In an era dramatically marked by conflict and division, the Segesta Archaeological Park is transformed into a universal agora, a place where the language of art transcends all boundaries and opposes the clash of weapons with the power of gesture, sound, and word.Experience this necessary beauty with us and make poetry your compass. Segesta awaits you to celebrate, together, the invincible power of art. Happy Festival, everyone!
