Looking for Farmers Markets in the US

Where can one find a market that has Italian heritage on the East Coast of the US.?

I found four that met the criteria and if you are looking for the Italian Lifestyle, or maybe some real food whilst in America try these out.

1 Union Square New York. the Greenmarket.

This location is open Mondays, Wednesdays, Friday & Saturday year-round. I visited on a Monday and Saturday.  Saturday was massive.
Market Hours: 8:00 a.m – 6:00 p.m.

i have attached a link to the stallholders who are there on any Saturday. It is an incredible number of producers all from within 50 miles of the NY heart, and it so good to see such wonderful fresh produce in a city known for its fast food. A lot has changed with consumer habits, thankfully, in the US.  Many displayed their organic certification, and many promoted Slow Food membership.

There were other markets popping up in different neighborhoods on a daily basis, but none were as big or as absorbing as the Greenmarket. But for something truly Italian visit Eataly in the FlatIron precinct. I will report on this “experience” in another story.

Another market experience in New York is definitely Chelsea Markets. Slightly different in concept, as it incorporates opportunity to eat at lust about every outlet. More to come on Chelsea Markets.
